INZ Indian Student NewsLetter – July 2016

This has included a range of media reports outlining some of the more concerning aspects of the Indian cohort applying to study in New Zealand, including the well-established concerns regarding the sustained disreputable behaviour and intentions of many Indian student agents in the market.
Education providers should anticipate a rebalancing of student volumes over the year ahead, with initial data indicating that applications to study in New Zealand will be lower in the 2016/17 financial year. For comparison, in July and August 2016 INZ Mumbai received 2,382 Student Visa applications from Indian citizens, in July and August 2015 INZ Mumbai received 4,524 applications from the same cohort of applicants.
